On August 30, Los Angeles’ alt-funk rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers will end a five-year break and return with their 10th studio album, I’m With You. We caught up with bassist Flea to chat about the band’s hiatus, the departure (again!) of longtime guitarist John Frusciante, and how the quartet “found a new side of ourselves” in the process.
It’s been five years since the release of RHCP’s last album, Stadium Arcadium. Did you guys plan for it to be this long?
Yeah. It was planned. I initiated that. I just really needed to get away from [the band]. It had come to a point where it felt dysfunctional and not fun. Even though I felt that we made a good record, played good shows, and honored our position in the rock world, I wanted to get away...

The Red Hot Chili Peppers' debut album was released in 1984, a full five years before Bay Area "based goddess" Kreayshawn made her debut as a human being. Yet that's not stopping the two sides from joining forces on RHCP's new "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie" video, which Kreay will direct.
That's according to reps for each act's respective labels (Warner Bros. and Columbia), who confirmed the collaboration to MTV News. "Maggie" is the first single from the Chili Peppers' much-anticipated I'm With You, their first studio album in more than five years.
Details on the video are scarce, and while the idea of Kreayshawn — the rapper who recently became the subject of an intense bidding war between labels thanks to her Internet smash "Gucci Gucci" — directing a video for the Red Hot Chili...

Lo nuevo de Red Hot Chili Peppers, con fecha y título

El décimo disco de estudio de los Red Hot Chili Peppers se llamará I’m with you y tiene fecha de salida a la venta confirmada por la banda: el 30 de agosto. Hasta este lunes, cuando se conocieron ambas noticias (el lanzamiento y el título), había un montón de especulaciones en torno al nombre.
De hecho, hubo quien afirmó que el sucesor de Stadium Arcadium, de 2006 y hasta la fecha el último disco de los californianos, llevaría el impronunciable “Dr Johnny Skinz's Disproportionately Rambunctious Polar Express Machine-head” como título de batalla, en honor a un viaje de ácidos que alguna vez experimentó el cantante Anthony Kiedis. Finalmente, será I’m with you, tal como se anuncia el el sitio oficial de la banda.
